8.—(1) It shall be lawful for the Governor in Council Regulations. 10 make regulations for the following purposes :---

(a) fixing the wages and other sums payable by the employers of watchmen, and the appropriation of portions of such wages and other sums for such objects as the Governor in Council shall think fit;

(6) making and altering grades and ranks of watch-

men;

(e) regulating the conditions of employment and

service of watchmen ;

(d) providing for the discipline and control of

watchmen ;

(e) imposing duties and obligations on employers

of watchmen

(ƒ) prescribing fees;

(g) generally for carrying out the provisions of this

Ordinance.

(2) All regulations made under this Ordinance shall be laid on the table of the Legislative Council at the first meeting thereof held after the publication in the Gazette of the making of such regulations, and if a resolution be passed at the first meeting of the Legislative Council held after such regulations have been laid on the table of the said Council resolving that any such regulation shall be rescinded or amended in any manner whatsoever, the said regulation shall, without prejudice to anything done there- under, be deemed to be rescinded or amended as the case may be, as from the date of publication in the Gazette of the passing of such resolution.

4. The following shall not be subject to this Ordi- Persous not

nance :-

(a) public officers ;

(b) members of His Majesty's regular Naval or

Military Forces, or of any Auxiliary Force;

(e) persons employed by the Admiralty or War

Department; and

(d) poisons of Chinese race, unless allowed by the Captain Superintendent of Police to register themselves in the Watchmen's Register.

5. The Captain Superintendent of Police may at any Power of time by writing under his hand exempt any watchinau or exemption. class of watchmen, or any employer, from any of the provisions of this Ordinance or of any of the regulations made thereunder.

6. Subject to the provisions of section 4, no person Unregistered shall perform or continue to perform any of the duties of persons not a watchman, unless he is registered in the Watchmeu's to act or be Register, and no person shall employ or continue to employ employed as

watchmen. any unregistered person as a watchman or to perform any of the duties of a watchman.

7.-(1) No person shall, without the permission of the Prohibited Captain Superintendent of Police, perform or continue to employment. perform the duties of a watchman for more than one employer.

(2) No person shall, without the permission of the Captain Superintendent of Police, employ or continue to employ as a watelanan any person who is employed by any other employer.

8.—(1) It shall be lawful for the Captain Superinten- Discipline. dent of l'olice to order that any registered watchman, other

than ship's guards, who is found guilty by him of neglect

of duty, disobedience to orders, or other misconduct, shall be punished either---
