Repeal of Ordinance
An Ordinance to amend the Asylums Ordi-
nance, 1906.
Be it enacted by the Governor of Hong Kong, with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council thereof, as follows:-
1. This Ordinance may be cited as the Asylums Amend- ment Ordinance, 1927.
2. The following section is inserted in the Asylums Ordinance, 1906, immediately after section 3 thereof and is numbered section 4:-
Regulations.
4.-(1) It shall be lawful for the Governor in Council to make regulations for any of the following purposes :—
(a) to regulate the admission of patients to asylums in cases not otherwise pi- viued for in this Ordinance;
(b) to regulate the detention and exam- ination of patients in asylums and matters appertaining thereto;
(c) to prescribe forms to be used for the purposes of this Ordinance ;
(d) to provide for any matter which he may consider desirable for the purpose of earry- ing out the objects of this Ordinance.
(2) All regulations made under this Ordi- nance shall be laid on the table of the Legisla- tive Conmeil at the first meeting thereof held after the publication in the Gazette of the making of such regulations, and if a resolution be passed at the first meeting of the Legisla- tive Council held after such regulations have been laid on the table of the said Council resolving that any such regulation shall be rescinded or amended in any manner whatso- ever, the said regulation shall, without pre- judice to anything done thereunder, be deemed to be rescinded or amended, as the case may be, as from the date of publication in the Gazette of the passing of such resolution.
3. Section 7 of the Asylums Ordinance, 1906, is repealed and the following section is substituted there- No. 6 of 1906, for :-

Removal to asylum for observation.

7.- (1) Upon the application of any person who has reason to believe that some other person is of unsound mind, it shall be lawful for any magistrate or justice of the peace to make an order authorizing the removal to an asylum, for the purpose of detention and obser- vation during a period not exceeding seven days from and including the date of the order, of the person alleged to be of unsound mind.
