No. S. 172.-It is hereby notified that sealed tenders in triplicate, which shall be clearly marked Tender for Ferries", will be received at the Colonial Secretary's Office until Noon on Wednesday, the 31st day of August, 1927, for a licence for the exclusive maintenance of the ferry service for the conveyance of persons between Victoria, Hung Hom, Kowloon City, Saiwanho, and Shaukiwan within the areas bounded by the following lines and by the coast-lines between the terminal points of those lines, that is

to say,-

East -The western entrance of Lyemun Pass.

West --A straight line drawn from the Harbour Office to Blackhead's Point.

Special attention is drawn to the following matters :

It has been provided by regulation made under the Ferries Ordinance, 1917, Ordinance No. 28 of 1917, that the declaration of the above-men- tioned area as an area to which section 3 of the said Ordinance is to apply shall not have the effect of prohibiting the maintenance of any Ferry between any single point within the said area and any point or points outside the said area.

(b) The service provided by the schedule to be published by the licensee and to be subject to the approval of the Harbour Master shall provide for not less than one departure every 45 minutes daily from each of the following piers between 5.15 a.m. and 6 p.m.:-

The Keng Shan Wharf, Victoria.

Hung Hom Ferry Wharf.

Kowloon City Wharf.

Shaukiwan Wharf or Saiwanho Wharf.

(c) The licensee of the aforesaid ferry or group of ferries may demand and take

for every passenger fares not exceeding the following rates :-

Between Victoria and Shaukiwan (1st Class

or Saiwanho..

Between Victoria and Kowloon 1st

Members of the Hong Kong Police Force in uniform shall be

entitled to travel on duty free of charge on all ferries.

(d) Notwithstanding anything at present contained in Regulation No. 28x the licensee will not be permitted to use any of the vessels provided for the ferry service, either to carry or tow any pigwash or offensive cargo at any time.

Every tender and licence shall be subject to the Ferries Ordinance, 1917, and the regulations for the time being made thereunder.

The period of the licence shall be three years to commence on the 1st day of October, 1927, which period may be extended in accordance with the regulations.
