An Ordinance to amend the University Ordi-

nance, 1911.

BE it enacted by the Governor of Hong Kong, with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council thereof, as follows:-

1. This Ordinance may be cited as the University Short title. Amendment Ordinance, 1927.

2. The following section is added to the University Addition of Ordinance, 1911, immediately after section 13 thereof :-

(2) The function of the Honorary Degrees Committee shall be to recommend to the Court names for honorary degrees.

(3) No honorary degree shall be awarded save by the Court and except on the recommendation of the Honorary Degrees Committee.

3. The following statute is added to the Second Addition of Schedule of the University Ordinance, 1911, immediately new statute after Statute 12 thereof :-

1. The Houorary Degrees Committee shall consist of No. 10 of

the following persons :-

The Chancellor (ex-officio).

The Vice-Chancellor (ex-officio).

The Dean of each Faculty (ex-officio).

A member of the Council appointed by the

Council.

2. The Registrar shall ex-officio be secretary to the

Committee but shall not be a member of it.

3. The member appointed by the Council shall hold office for three years and shall be eligible for re-appointment.
