Restrictions apply to the importation of:

Firearms and parts thereof; plants and

parts of plants (including fruit, seeds and potatoes). Packing and marking: Parcels containing non-inflammable films must be clearly marked Films-Non-inflammable or Safety Films on the customs declaration or green label.

Import Licences: No goods (including books) can be imported into Indonesia unless permission has been given by the Bureau for Trade and Foreign Exchange (Biro Devisen Perdagangan) and the Import Exchange Permit endorsed to that effect. The authority for import should be quoted on the invoice and customs declaration. Certain goods may only be imported by recognised National Importers or National Middle Class (Midderstand) Traders.

Gift parcels : Gift parcels may be sent without application for an Import licence provided that they are bona fide gifts from private persons in this Colony and are clearly marked to the effect that they contain unsolicited gifts, the contents of gift parcels must not exceed 300 rupiahs in value and any parcel containing goods of a greater value requires an import permit which should be obtained by the addressee.

Prohibitions: Bank-notes, currency notes, bills, drafts and so on and all forms of securities unless addressed to the authorized banks (National Bank of Iran and Imperial Bank of Iran) or sent in insured letters with full particulars of the contents and value on the envelope; butane gas lighters and refills; coin, gold, jewellery, platinum, precious stones, silver. The importation of a wide range of general merchandise is prohibited. All merchandise not prohibited is subject to a quota system. Senders should ascertain before posting whether the contents are admissible.
