Restrictions apply to the importation of: Almanacs and calendars in the Finnish or Swedish languages; medicines; seeds; unmanufactured tobacco; wines; spirits. Import licences are required for some goods.

Gift parcels: Customs and other charges are payable on most gift parcels; but gifts of worn clothing, used bed linen and used table linen are admitted free of duty if sent in such small quantities as to preclude their use for commercial purposes. Gift parcels containing foodstuffs, tobacco, soap, razor blades and other articles of small value are admitted free of duty if the total weight and value of such parcels received by the addressee in one month do not exceed 22 lb. and 5,000 Finnish marks respectively.

If an addressee receives more than 2 lb. cocoa, 2 lb. coffee, 2 lb. chocolate or sweets, 8 oz. tea and 34 oz. tobacco in one month, duty is payable.

Customs declaration : One non-adhesive form and despatch note. Declarations should show the Post Office serial number of the parcel and should, as far as possible, be prepared in French as well as in English. Weights and measures should be shown in the metric system.
