Dutiable articles by letter post. Dutiable articles may be sent by letter post to certain countries under the "Green Label" system. A green label showing the precise particulars and the value of the articles must be affixed to the address side of each packet; and, in addition, if the country of destination so requires, one or more non-adhesive Customs declaration forms, as required for parcels, must be securely fastened to the package. Dutiable articles may be sent to this Colony under the green label system but no Customs declarations are necessary.

These labels may be obtained at any post office.

Letters containing dutiable articles which do not conform to these regulations, or letters despatched under the green label system to a country which does not admit the service, may be returned, subjected to fines or confiscation, according to the laws of the country of destination.

The affixing of a green label to a letter confers no title to compensation in the event of loss, damage or delay.

Phonopost

Packets containing spoken messages (in the sense of verbal personal communications) recorded on discs, tape or wire posted in the Colony for despatch abroad are chargeable at the letter rate of postage and are subject to the general conditions applicable to the letter post. The recordings must be enclosed in a strong protective cover.

Packing and Make-up. Special regulations apply regarding the packing and make-up of certain items, and the section under this heading should be carefully studied.
