SCOPE OF SERVICE

POSTAL ORDERS

Postal orders may be purchased at, and are payable at, all post offices in the Colony.

British postal orders are issued and paid in most countries within the British Common- wealth and in certain other countries. The countries concerned are indicated by the letters PO in the third column of the table in this section, which gives the special conditions affecting the various countries.

They are also paid at all post offices in the Irish Republic.

Payment is made in the currency of the country of payment at the equivalent value of the British currency.

Under Exchange Control Regulations postal orders may not be sent to any place outside the Scheduled Territories (formerly known as the sterling area) except to members of H.M. Forces as indicated in the following paragraph.

H.M. Forces, H.M. and Merchant Ships. Postal orders may be sent under the same general conditions as to civilians, to all persons serving in H.M. Forces overseas and in Royal Naval shore establishments. If the persons are serving outside the Scheduled Territories the remittances are subject to a limit of £2 on any one day.

Postal orders may be sent without restriction to persons in H.M. Ships in foreign waters, but may not be sent to members of the Merchant Navy if their ships are in foreign waters.

Scheduled Territories. The Scheduled Territories comprise the British Common- wealth (except Canada), British Trust Territories, British Protectorates and Protected States of Libya, Burma, Iceland, Jordan, the Irish Republic; and the United Kingdom.
