COLLECTION
Posting boxes are installed at convenient places throughout the Colony and are cleared at the times stated on them.
Upon receipt of an application in writing, the Postmaster General may approve of the installation of a private box on any premises for the posting of unregistered letters and postcards. The type of box to be provided and the position in which it is to be placed are subject to the approval of the Postmaster General.
If articles other than letters and postcards are posted in a private posting box, the arrangements for the clearance of the box may be discontinued.
The arrangements for the clearance of private posting boxes and the times of clearance shall be determined by the Postmaster General; all keys of private posting boxes shall be held by the Post Office.
The following notice shall be required to be affixed to these boxes:
This is a private box. Letters posted in it will be treated in all respects as postal packets, but proof of such posting will not be accepted in legal proceedings as evidence of receipt by the addressee.
BY ORDER OF THE POSTMASTER GENERAL
Postmen are not allowed to accept from the public anything for the post.
Postal packets sent in considerable numbers should be handed over the counter at the General Post Office, Hong Kong or at Kowloon Post Office, and should be posted in boxes.
