Re-use of envelopes. Envelopes which have previously passed through the post may be used again for transmission by registered post only on the following conditions:
1.
2.
3.
They must be over 10 inches by 5 inches or otherwise over 50 square inches in area;
They must not contain coin, bank-notes, or other forms of readily negotiable money, or valuables such as jewellery or gold or silver articles;
All old addresses on the envelopes must be completely covered by a gummed label, and, if this is not of sufficient size to cover the postmarks and any registration label already on the en- velope, strips of paper must be used to cover these also.
Money sent by registered post. Money, as defined on page 52, sent by registered post should be enclosed in a registered letter envelope, which may be purchased at any post office.
Fragile articles. Letters or packets with fragile contents should bear the words Fragile with care on the face of the cover above the address.
Inadequate packing. Any officer to whom a packet of any kind is tendered for registration is instructed to refuse to register it if the packing is, in his opinion, obviously inadequate; but the registration of a packet will not in itself be regarded as evidence of satisfactory packing, and the Post Office assumes no liability as a consequence of the registration of a packet afterwards found to have been im- perfectly packed.
Addressing. The address of any postal packet intended for regis- tration must be clearly written in characters in ordinary use in Hong Kong. A packet hearing an address otherwise written will not be accepted unless a translation of the address is added.

t
Articles addressed to initials, figures, Christian names without sur- names, fictitious names or conventional marks of any kind as well as those addressed in pencil except copying ink pencil, will not be accepted for registration.
The sender's name and address should be written or printed on the back of the envelope or wrapper to facilitate the return of a postal packet in case of non-delivery.
Special marking. The sender should mark the packet in the top left-hand corner with the word Registered,
Payment of fee. The registration fee must be paid by postage stamps affixed to the cover. The sender should, in his own interest, satisfy himself that the entry is correct as soon as the certificate is handed to him.
Posting lists. When several packets are sent by the same person for registration, it is desirable that they should be accompanied by a list, in duplicate, of the address, one list to be retained at the post office, and the other, when signed, to be returned to the bearer.
