INQUIRIES
REMITTANCE SERVICE
Applications concerning postal orders which have been lost or destroyed should be addressed to the Money Order Department General Post Office Hong Kong.
It will materially assist inquiries if such applica- tions are made as soon as possible after the loss is discovered. The counterfoil should be produced, or alternatively the serial number of the order should be given, and it should be stated if the order was filled in or crossed.
The following information should be given, if the order has been posted:
1. The name and address of sender.
2. The name and address of addressee.
3.
The date, hour and exact place of posting. 4. The nature of the packet, and the amount
of postage paid.
5. Whether the whole packet or only the postal order is missing. If the cover of the packet reached the addressee it should be produced.
Investigation is undertaken free, if the counter- foil can be produced or the serial number quoted.
If the counterfoil of an order for more than 2s. 6d. cannot be produced, or the serial number be given, investigation can only be undertaken if the payee's name was inserted on the order; and the applicant can give the name of the post office at which the order was purchased and the approximate date of purchase. A search fee of 2s. is payable in such cases but the fee will be returned if it is found that the order has been irregularly paid.
In the case of an order of any denomination up to and including 2s. 6d., investigation can only be undertaken if the counterfoil is produced or the serial number quoted.
