IN EXTENSION OF

Postal Orders issued in the United Kingdom and above places are payable in Hong Kong. Stamps affixed to orders to make up odd amounts should be left clean and not defaced in any way whatsoever. Hong Kong stamps may be used for this purpose not exceeding 5d. or two in number. The equivalents of 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 pence for this purpose are taken as 8, 16, 24, 32 and 40 cents.

COMPLETION OF ORDER

The sender of a postal order must enter thereon in ink the name of the person to whom the amount is to be paid and is recommended also to fill in the name of the office of payment.

If the sender does not know which post office is most convenient to the payee, he should insert the name of the town, village or district where the payee resides. The order will then be paid at any post office in the place named.

CROSSING

$

Postal orders may be crossed for payment through a bank.

ORDERS NOT NEGOTIABLE

Postal orders do not, like banknotes, represent value in themselves and are not negotiable.

Only the rightful owner may cash a postal order; and if the sender has filled in the name of the payee, the owner may take legal action to recover the amount from any other person who negotiates it.
