PROHIBITIONS: letters; gold coin, unmanufactured gold and certain monetary documents except under permit; labels, empty receptacles, and so on, bearing the names of non-Polish firms sent without goods.
RESTRICTIONS apply to the importation of alcoholic liquors; arms; artificial sweetening substances; celluloid; fruit; meat and other animal products; medicines; plants and seeds; potatoes; serums and vaccines; tobacco, except for personal use and not over 1 kilogramme in weight. The im- portation of certain other articles is subject to production of an import permit which should accompany the parcel.
CERTIFICATE: If a certificate of origin is sent with goods subject to preferen- tial rates of Customs duty, it should be enclosed in the parcel, the relative despatch note and the cover of the parcel being clearly marked to that effect. A single certificate may cover three, but not more, parcels. In such a case the cover of the parcel containing the certificate and the despatch note should be endorsed to show that the certificate enclosed covers the other parcels, of which the serial numbers should be indicated, and the other parcels and their despatch notes should be noted to the effect that the certificate is contained in parcel No.
The certificate should give an accurate description of the contents of the parcel. PACKING must be very strong (paper or cardboard is not sufficient). DESPATCH PAPERS: separate set for each parcel. GIFTS used clothing is exempt from duty if sent for charitable purposes; but the sender must enclose a list of the contents, which must bear the visa of a Polish consular officer in this colony. A certificate of poverty issued by the local authorities in Poland must be enclosed or presented to the Polish Customs authorities by the addressee.

INVOICE an invoice or statement giving accurately the value of the contents for Customs purposes should be enclosed in every parcel containing books and also in every sealed parcel containing merchandise; and the parcel should be marked on the address side INVOICE ENCLOSED. If, however, the invoice or statement relates to more parcels than one, it should be enclosed in parcel No. 1, and the remaining parcels should be marked INVOICE ENCLOSED IN PARCEL No. 1.
