Method of Address
Delay of correspondence and mistakes in delivery are due in the main to the use of incorrect or incom- plete postal addresses. The Postmaster General there- fore appeals to members of the public to co-operate with the Post Office in preventing delay by :-
(a) Addressing correspondence with the full address
given by the person to whom they are writing. (b) Typing or writing the address legibly, in the lower part of the front of the envelope, with a. clear margin above (not less than 1 inches deep) for the postage stamps and postmarks; leaving the left hand bottom corner blank.
The Post Office cannot undertake to correct or com- plete a wrong or an insufficient address.
The address should include in all cases:
(1) Name of the addressee; and whether, title Mr.,
Mrs. or Miss.
(2) Number of the house (if the house does not bear a number, the name of the house). If the house bears a name and also a number, the number should always be used, whether or not the name is added. In the case of flats, offices etc., the number of the floor, as well as the name or num- ber of the building of which the premises form part.
(3) The name of the street, road, avenue, etc.
(4) District, i.e. Hong Kong, Kowloon or New
Territories.
Prohibited Articles
The Post Office Ordinance 1926 provides that no person shall tender for posting, or send by post:-
(a) any postal packet consisting of or containing anything which might expose postal officials to danger or which might soil or damage any other postal packet;
(b) any explosive, inflamable or dangerous substance;
