137.-Parcels cannot be redirected free of charge as is the case with letters. The accrued charges must be paid by the addressec before the parcel can be delivered.

138.-Parcels will be redirected under the following conditions:--

For each redirection a parcel will be liable to additional postage at the full prepaid rate cliargeable on a fresh parcel from the place where the redirection was effected to its now destination.

The redirection fees may usually be either prepaid or collected on delivery, but the additional postage on parcels redirected to and from the United States of America and The Philippines must be prepaid.

139.-The sender of a parcel to certain countries may request at the time of posting that, if the parcel cannot be delivered as addressed it may be either (a) treated as abandoned, or (b) tendered for delivery at a second address in the country of destination. No other alternative is admissible. If the sender avails himself of this facility his request must be written on the parcel and must be in the following form:-

If this parcel is undeliverable to the addressee, it should be

(a) considered as abandoned

(b) tendered for delivery to.

(The alternative not required should be struck out).

140.-In the absence of a definite request for abandonment a parcel which is undeliverable at the original address, or at the alternative address (if one is furnished) will at the expiration of 21 days from the date of its receipt in this Colony or at Wei Hai Wei (except in the case of a "Poste Restante" parcel) be returned to the sender without previous notification and at his expense.

141.-A parcel received in the Colony or at Wei Hai Wei addressed to care of "Post Office" or "Poste Restante" will be retained for a period of 2 months before being treated as undeliverable or abandoned. Such a parcel will be liable to demurrage charges as laid down in rule 144. This extension of time applies to parcels addressed to commercial travellers, tourists and persons employed on board vessels only. Parcels addressed to residents and firms must be dealt with in accordance with Rules 139 (b) and 140.

If parcels addressed to certain places abroad cannot be delivered, the sender is advised, and his instructions for the disposal of the parcels are then com- municated to the Post Office at which the parcels are lying.

142.-Parcels returned from one country to another incur fresh postage at the ordinary rate.

143.-In default of proper application and payment of the charges due, un- delivered parcels are liable to be finally disposed of three months after the date of their return to the General Post Office. If, however, during this period or
