111. Transfers of equipment from Mercury House to the new build- ing were being carried out in the year under review. All administrative offices of Cable and Wireless are now housed in New Mercury House.
STAFF WELFARE
112. During the year subsidies were given from the Staff Welfare Fund to the Post Office Recreation Club to help towards various staff activities and the Annual Children's Party sponsored by the Club. Additional recreational equipment was purchased and has been put to good use by the staff. A total of 12 loans were granted to minor staff who were in need of financial assistance.
113. The Departmental Welfare Officer continued to pay visits to officers on long term sick leave and in hospital. It has been the practice to hand over a small gift to the sick officer as a token of good wishes from the Department.
Club House
114. The Club House at Caroline Hill was frequently used by members for various recreational facilities.
Bathing Pavilions
115. The swimming pavilions at Ting Kau and Stanley continued to be popular with the staff during the summer. The pavilion at Stanley was refurbished early in 1973.
Social Activities
116. The Annual Children's Party for children of all the staff of the Department was held on 14th January, 1973. Over 800 children were entertained by guest artists and television and radio personalities. The 'donkey ride' was the main attraction of the day.
117. One of the most notable events of the year was a Barbecue and Dance held in the Club House on 3rd March, 1973. Nearly 150 staff members and their friends attended.

118. Twenty-one teams entered the Inter-Section Miniature Foot- ball Competition this year as against seventeen in 1972. The winners
