STAFF WELFARE

106. During the year a Staff Welfare Fund was established. A subsidy was given from the Fund to the Post Office Recreation Club for the Annual Children's Party held in January 1972, and recreational equipment was purchased for the use of staff in the General Post Office and Kowloon Central Post Office. A number of loans were given to minor staff who were in need of financial assistance.

107. Frequent visits were paid by the Departmental Welfare Officer to officers on long term sick leave and in hospital.

108. Membership of the Post Office Recreation Club, previously restricted to clerical staff, was extended to all Post Office staff. The Club House at Caroline Hill was frequently and regularly used by members for various recreational activities throughout the year.

Bathing Pavilions

109. The swimming pavilions at Ting Kau and Stanley con- tinued to be popular with the staff during the swimming season.
