20. The turnover in Post Office business, inclusive of postal remit- tance services, exceeded 342 million dollars, as compared with some 320 million dollars the previous year.

Telecommunication Licences

Revenue from licensing totalled $3,327,169 as compared with $5,808,580 the previous year. This reduction was due to a decision to abolish the licensing of television receivers after 31st March, 1972; new licences taken out and licences renewed during the year were accordingly timed to expire on 31st March, 1972, instead of running for a 12-month period, and licence fees were collected on a pro-rata basis. The revenue collected on the various types of licence is shown in Appendix VII.

24. 86,062 First Day Covers were sold for the Diamond Jubilee of Scouting in Hong Kong, 88,257 for the Festival of Hong Kong and 119,625 for the Lunar New Year 1972 issues.
Private Boxes
25. The demand for private boxes still exceeds the available supply and waiting lists are maintained. The income from rentals of private boxes and bag services was $801,362, an increase of $33,883 over the preceding year.

26. There were general increases in the totals of remittances by Money Order and Postal Order services compared with 1970-71 although
