32. The total number of items posted for delivery within the Colony reached an estimated figure of 130.1 million which in comparison with the preceding year's amended total indicated an increase of 28.4%.
33. Constant surveys were made of delivery beats and revisions introduced as required. During the year 26 new beats were created, 15 in Hong Kong and 11 in Kowloon and the New Territories.
34. Increase in the use of Inland Registered Service by the public continued and a total of 3.1 million items were handled this year, indicating a rise of 0.6 million or 24%.
35. Use of the local Recorded Delivery service by Government Departments has also increased by 50%.
36. The Inland Parcels traffic showed an increase of 13.5%, with 27 thousand parcels handled as against 23.8 thousand in the preceding year.
37. Six additional street posting boxes were installed (1 in Hong Kong and 5 in Kowloon and the New Territories) and two were with- drawn from service, bringing the total to 492.
38. As in previous years a temporary post office was opened at the 28th Exhibition of Hong Kong Products for the period 9th December, 1970 to 12th January, 1971 and proved very popular.
39. A temporary post office was also set up at the City Hall for the 24th Congress of the Federation of Commonwealth Chambers of Commerce from 4th May, 1970 to 8th May, 1970.
