28. The two classes of postmen were amalgamated with effect from 1st July, 1967 with a new through salary scale and a higher maximum salary.
Staff Training
29. The training of University graduates on the higher administra- tive duties of the Department continued during the year. With the appointment of three more Assistant Controllers of Post Class II in January 1968 there were now five University graduates receiving each training.
30. The Post Office Training School held six six-week courses which were attended by a total of 96 clerks. These clerks were also given practical training after the course.
31. A two-week Supervisory Management Course, planned and conducted in association with the Government Training Division, was attended by 15 officers of the Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent and senior clerical grades during the period from 19th February to 1st March, 1968. The first week covered supervisory management principles and the second week contained subjects more closely related to Post Office work.
32. Clerks, Postmen and Assistant Postmen attended English Language classes conducted by the Training Unit of Establishment Branch, Colonial Secretariat. Unfortunately, most of the Postmen and Assistant Postmen were obliged to withdraw from the classes in session in June 1967 because they were needed to perform full day delivery duties replacing those who had absented themselves without permission.
Temporary Staff for Christmas
33. A casual labour force of 55 clerks and 110 labourers was engaged for 3 and 2 weeks respectively to assist in the handling of mail during the Christmas pressure period.

34. Revenue collected by the Department
amounted to
$103,442,068.04, which compared to $101,156,496.84 for the year 1966-67 represents an increase of 2.3%.
