38. Revenue from the renting of private boxes and bag services amounted to $489,575.75, an increase of $40,343.17 over the previous

39. 48 additional licences were issued and 20 were not renewed. The total in use at the end of the year was 169.
Franking Machines

40. A total of 369 concerns are now licensed to use these machines, an increase of 54 over the previous year. During the year 63 additional licences were issued and 9 licences were revoked.
Services to other Departments
41. The value of free facilities afforded to departments of Govern- ment during the year was estimated to be approximately $1,500,000. This is exclusive of the services rendered to various departments by the Telecommunications Division and work carried out in connexion with official telephone installations throughout Government.
Fees for other Departments services
42. Included in revenue from stamp sales is an amount of $4,702,155.00 in respect of fees for certificates of origin issued by the Department of Commerce and Industry. This figure represents a decline of $248,570 over the preceding year's collection.
POSTAL SERVICES
43. The total of all categories of postal articles posted, received for delivery from abroad and in transit through the Colony reached a figure of 202,534,500. This is an increase of 12,179,900 or 6.4% over the previous year. This figure included 5,247,700 small packets despatched to China which business appears to have attained a steady level against
