Staff Training
21. The Postal Training School held five six-week courses which were attended by a total of 56 clerks. The number of clerks per course was raised from 10 to 16 in January 1966.
22. 16 Assistant Postmen attended English Language classes operated by the Training Unit of the Establishment Branch, Colonial Secretariat.
Temporary Staff for Christmas
23. A casual labour force of 50 clerks and 100 labourers was engaged for 21 and 13 days respectively to assist in handling the increase in mail traffic during Christmas.
FINANCE
24. Revenue collected by the department amounted to $90,666,587.46, an increase of $8,280,920.68 over the previous year. In addition, $4,820,398.95 was collected from the sale of revenue stamps.
25. Expenditure totalled $43,388,717.02, an increase of $3,171,128.82 over 1964-65 approximately half of which comprised additional personal emoluments, in the main in respect of an interim salaries award to meet higher living costs.
26. The business turnover, including remittance transactions, totalled $194,997,832.47, an increase of $16,671,191.47 over the previous year.
Wireless Licences
27. Issues of telecommunications licences of all types produced $3,946,109.00 exceeding the previous year's total by $559,103.00.
