100. Twenty seven direct international telegraph circuits were operated with various countries. More than three million telegrams were despatched, received and relayed.

101. New radiotelephone services were established with Iceland, Faroe Islands, British Guiana, the Leeward and Windward Islands, Kotabaru (West Irian) and eight more principal cities in South Korea. A new relay service was also instituted between Jesselton and Norway via Hong Kong. Schedules were extended to meet increasing demands in the Houg Kong/U.S.A., Hong Kong/Saigon, Hong Kong/Australia and Hong Kong/India services. It is now possible to make radio- telephone calls to eighty six countries.

102. Telex service was extended to Bermuda, Panama, Puerto Rico, Israel, Iceland, Faroe Island, Accra, Peru, Morocco, Tunisia, Vatican City, Ecuador, Iran, Mexico, Lebanon, Malta, Seoul, and the Republic of Sudan. We are now linked to fifty seven countries in the International Telex service. Any Telex subscriber in Hong Kong can be speedily connected to any of the more than 100,000 subscribers in other parts of the world for direct exchange of printed messages. More channels have been set up on most of the Telex circuits. Calls to most European countries and to Japan are now connected through automatic exchanges. As a result of these improvements, connexions are very much expedited.

103. Harbourphone facilities have been improved. Two additional exchanges were set up and the subscriber's units available for hire were increased by 200%.

104. Phototelegrams in the form of news pictures are now being received in very much greater numbers for the news agencies here. Though not frequently used for commercial purposes, this service has been increasingly useful to the Press.

105. Printergram service has been and is still growing. At present 40,000 telegrams a month are handled by teleprinter direct to and from the clients' offices instead of by messenger, as compared with 35,000 a year ago.

106. Most leading hotels in Kowloon are now using Deskfax for filing telegrams. This facility is principally for the benefit of their guests. Transfer of telegrams in facsimile is gradually growing in popularity.

107. More circuits were leased for exclusive use. This form of telecommunication service appeals to airline companies and certain
