STAFF WELFARE
96. The Post Office Recreation Club continued to offer welfare, sporting and social activities to members during the year.
97. Regular X-Ray examinations, inoculations, etc. of the staff were carried out during the year with the co-operation of the Director of Medical and Health Services.
Social Activities
98. Social-cum-Dance evenings were organized during the year and were well patronized by members of the staff and their ladies. The annual children's party held on 31st December, 1961 proved as popular as ever with more than 500 children attending. Gifts were distributed to all the children and they were entertained by local guest artists. A merry- go-round proved extremely popular and the party rounded up with each child getting a special gift from 'Santa Claus'.
Tennis
99. The Post Office Tennis team continued to hold their own in the local tennis leagues. Various tournaments were organized within the department.
Table Tennis
100. The 'Saville Cup' competition again proved its popularity with a large number of teams participating. The cup was won by the Hong Kong Sorting Office who defeated the Kowloon team in the final.
Swimming
101. A departmental swimming gala was again organized this year at the European Young Men's Christian Association with the Kowloon Postmen winning the 'Crook Cup' for the second year running.
