Mechanization of deliveries and collections in various areas planned and four additional small vans for such purpose were brought into use during the year. Other vans are on order and further mechaniza- tion of deliveries will result as soon as they are available.
54. The delivery force of postmen was supplemented as found necessary during the year. The delivery from Shau Kei Wan was extended to Rennies Mill Village and the once-a-day delivery to Ap Lei Chau was increased to twice a day.
Posting Boxes
56. A total of twenty-eight additional posting boxes were installed in the Colony.
ACCOMMODATION
57. Lack of space still hampered the efficient working of the depart- ment, especially with the heavy increase in the various classes of business.
58. The extension of the Kowloon Sorting Office was completed in August, 1961.
59. No additional Post Offices were provided during the year.
60. The Yuen Long Post Office was removed to a temporary hut on 4th February, 1962 as the lease of the premises previously rented could not be renewed.
61. As in former years temporary postal facilities were again provided for the 19th Exhibition of Hong Kong Products during the period from 5.12.61 to 7.12.61 and 21.12.61 to 20.1.62.
62. A special Jamborette Mobile Post Office was operated at the Boy Scouts Golden Jubilee Jamborette Camp from 27th December, 1961 to 2nd January, 1962.
