Badminton
126. By the conversion of the grass court to a hard court it was possible to greatly increase the popularity of badminton amongst members.
Soccer League
127. The Post Office Recreation Club made their presence felt in the 3rd Division of the soccer league and finished runners-up in the league. As a result, the team has now been promoted to the 2nd Division. Also, although they were beaten the team accomplished the fine achievement of being finalists in the Junior knock-out competition of the Hong Kong Football Association.
'Hogarth Shield'
128. The annual competition of the Inter-section Miniature Soccer Championships for the 'Hogarth Shield' was contested by nine teams. The competition was on a knock-out basis. The Hong Kong Postmen and the Kowloon Postmen contested the finals in which the Kowloon Postmen emerged as worthy winners by three goals to nil.
Swimming
129. A departmental swimming gala was held during the year at the European Young Men's Christian Association with seven teams com- peting for the 'Crook Cup'. The cup was won by the Kowloon Postmen with the Hong Kong Sorting Office close at their heels.
Club House
130. The planting of flowers and trees around the P.O.R.C. Club House has improved its appearance considerably.
CONCLUSION
131. There can be no doubt that the affairs of the Post Office will continue to expand and the year 1960-61 has been one unsurpassed in its history from all points of view. It is a year where traffic has surged to new heights and revenue almost doubled itself, although it must be borne in mind, as reported, that the great increase in revenue mainly resulted from abnormal postings of small packets.
132. The strain on staff of all grades has been considerable and no small amount of ingenuity has been displayed in devising ways and means of meeting pressure in the accommodation at our disposal. During
