working these services from various floors is not ideal but it is the best that can be done in the present G.P.O. building.

74. The Airmail Reception Office and Post Office Kiosk at Kai Tak Airport were removed to the Temporary Terminal Building on 21st September, 1959.

MISCELLANEOUS

75. Temporary postal facilities for the 17th Exhibition of Hong Kong Products and for the visit of the world cruise ship 'Caronia' were again provided during the year.

76. Local school students in their civic studies continued to show keen interest in the organization and operation of the Hong Kong Post Office and tours conducted by officials of the Department were arranged at intervals throughout the year.

77. Fifty six additional licences were issued to stamp vendors throughout the Colony in order to facilitate the purchase of postage stamps in urban and rural localities where no Post Offices exist. Ten licences were revoked. A total of 258 stamp vendors now operate in the Colony.

78. Licenced Postal Frankers were increased by twenty whilst 3 licences were withdrawn. The total number of frankers now in use is 144.

79. Stamp vending machines were installed at Yau Ma Tei Post Office and in the new Mong Kok and Kowloon City Post Offices.

80. 20 Business Reply Cards and Envelope service permits were issued, the year end total in issue being 76.

81. Comprehensive Triennial International Statistics were taken during the months of April to June 1959.

82. Among eleven senior postal officials who visited the Department it was our especial pleasure to welcome the Deputy Director General, Sweden, Director of Posts, Norway, and Director of International Service, Denmark, who arrived under the auspices of the Scandinavian Airlines System on 1st November, 1959.

RADIO LICENSING AND INSPECTION

83. The total number of licences of all kinds in force on 31st March, 1960 was 105,558, 104,665 of which were Broadcast Receiving Licences. This total shows an increase of 31,141 licences over the previous year, and an increase of 30,938 or approximately 42% in the number of domestic broadcast receiving licences.
