34. There were no candidates and consequently no examination for the Postmaster General's 1st, 2nd and Special Class certificates of proficiency in Wireless Telegraphy. The course of study for these certificates is for two years and the next examination therefore will not be held until late in 1952.
The examination of "import and export declarations in respect of wireless apparatus was continued in co-operation with the Department of Commerce and Industry.

36. Telephones. The Hong Kong Telephone Company Limited provides a public telephone service which covers Hong Kong, Kowloon, and the New Territories, and serves both the general public and the Hong Kong Government.
37. At the end of the fiscal year the total number of direct exchange lines working on the Company's system was 23,539 and the number of extensions was 11,912, making a total 35,452 stations compared with 30,067 stations at the end of the last fiscal year.
