Hung Hom_W/T. This station has now 11 transmitters in- stalled, mainly for broadcasting and air services.
A diesel electric plant is being overhauled for installation, similar to Cape D'Aguilar.
Two new buried radial earth systems have been laid down.
Peak W/T.
This station has now 24 receivers for commercial,
press, and rebroadcasting services.
It is also the site for radar beacons and V.H.F. equipment for air services, and V.H.F. equipment for police and harbour services, which are being installed.
Various smaller stations cover the other services.
LINE COMMUNICATIONS.
Many extensions to the Government magneto telephone systems have been made, often involving renewed construction of damaged routes, particularly in the New Territories. This work is still embarrassed by scarcity of supplies and material.
The underground cable network, particularly in Hong Kong island, is still in poor condition, and a complete survey is required when time and staff permit.
Lines have been installed and maintained for outside broadcasting.
Damage from thefts of cable and wire is still troublesome.
New apparatus has been installed and lines maintained for the Railway Signalling System.
LABORATORY & MAINTENANCE SECTION.
This section has been kept busy on repairs, adoptations and cou- struction, largely to meet immediate demands pending arrival of standard equipment. A fair amount of new test apparaus has been received.
This section has also maintained electro-medical equipment in all Government Hospitals.
LICENSING & INSPECTION.
Wireless surveys and inspections have been carried out on ship- ping throughout the year.
Numerous prosecutions have been made for unlicensed and illegal receivers and transmitters. Convictions have resulted in fines amount- ing to over $31,000.
