Commercial Services,
Five medium power and five smaller transmitters have been in- stalled and brought into use for Cable & Wireless Ltd., and are carry- ing heavy traffic.
Radiotelephony tests with Manila have been carried out.
Receivers at the Peak receiving station have been increased to fourteen, and test equipment installed.
Numerous masts, aerials, and arrays have been erected at both transmitting and receiving stations,
Meteorological.
A large amount of meteorological traffic is being handled over marine and air circuits, plus a special group of receivers. This service is rapidly expanding. Traffic is shown in Appendix A.
New Services.
British Official Press (radio) continues to be received and dis- tributed. During the twelve months ending 31.3.47, 907,072 words were handled.
Domestic Services.
Little progress has been possible with Police and Harbour services owing to excessive delay in delivery of the V.H.F. equipment ordered. This equipment has recently arrived and will be installed after tests have been completed.
In the meantime immediate demands continue to be met by im- provisation, and also by equipment which is being loaned by the Naval Authorities.
Stations & General.
Cape D'Aguilar W/T. This station has now 12 transmitters installed, mainly for marine and commercial services. With three more that are expected, it will reach its maximum present capacity. A small amount of emergency power supply has been installed. Further diesel electric plant is being overhauled with a view to its installation.
Surveys of this site have been made for proposed extensions to broadcasting services.
It is also used for aeradio beacons.
