地產投資

由於大角咀船廠舊址及毗鄰之工業大廈等可能重建 為一綜合性建築物(見下文),本公司只能以短期租 約租出。因此,一九九七年之毛租金收入較一九九 六年之一億一千六百一十萬港元下跌百分之九至一 億零六百一十萬港元。

Property Investment

HKF

Due to the possible redevelopment of the Tai Kok Tsui shipyard

and the adjourning industrial buildings into a comprehensive project (as further described hereunder), the Company has

refrained from granting tenancies other than on short-term basis. Accordingly, gross rental income decreased by 9% to

HK$106.1 million in 1997 as compared to HK$116.1 million in

1996.

船廠業務

雖然核心之船舶維修業務有所退縮,但多元化發展

非海事工程業務有助提高營業額。一九九七年船廠 之經營溢利較一九九六年之三千零九十萬港元增加

百分之十六至三千五百九十萬港元。

其他業務

旅遊業務

由於亞洲金融風暴及來港旅客人數總體下降,旅遊

部之經營溢利由一九九六年之九百四十萬港元大幅

減少百分之六十四至三百四十萬港元。

Shipyard Operation

Diversification to non-marine works helped boost business,

despite shrinkage in core ferry business and the operating

profit of the shipyard increased by 16% to HK$35.9 million in

1997 as compared to HK$30.9 million in 1996.

Other Businesses

Travel Operation

Due to the currency turmoil in Asia and the drop in tourists coming to Hong Kong, the operating profit of the Travel

Division for the year decreased significantly by 64% to HK$3.4

million in 1997 from HK$9.4 million in 1996.

酒店業務

銀鑛灣酒店之業務亦因受來港旅客數量下降影響,

本年度之營業額下降百分之十七至一千七百三十萬

港元,而溢利則只有四十萬港元。

貿易業務

貿易部因集中發展批發及燃料業務而得益。一九九

七年之經營溢利由一九九六年之九百二十萬港元增

加百分之五十一至一千三百九十萬港元。

Hotel Operation

The business of the Silvermine Beach Hotel was also

adversely affected by the decrease in incoming tourists.

Turnover decreased by 17% to HK$17.3 million and a small

profit of HK$0.4 million was made for the year.

Trading Operation

The Trading Division continued to benefit from its focus in

wholesale and fuel oil businesses. Operating profits for the

year increased by 51% to HK$13.9 million from HK$9.2 million

in 1996.

利息收入

本年度銀行存款之淨利息達七千八百五十萬港元。

Interest Income

Net increase income on bank deposits was HK$78.5 million during the year under review.
