ADDITIONAL DS7 DESK OFFICER IN HKGD: JOB DESCRIPTION
1.
As promised, I attach a job description for the additional desk officer post in our Hong Kong section. As you know, the post has been authorised because of the considerable increase in the volume of work on the future of Hong Kong. Mr Morris, our DS7E, is required to devote all of his time. to the main core of this subject and to contingency planning matters. The role of the new DS7 will be (a) to relieve Mr Morris of his responsibilities for other Hong Kong matters unrelated to the future, particularly visits to and from Hong Kong, and (b) to assist with some aspects of the work related to the future, eg drafting replies to PQs and letters from MPs and the public etc, which have increased very considerably in number in recent weeks.
2.
POD have already proposed a candidate to us for
the post, whom we have accepted.
