Activity in the manufacturing sector as remained rather sluggish in the third quarter. The declines

in domestic exports in real terms (paragraph 2.1) and in the

retained imports of raw materials and semi-manufactures and of capital goods (paragraph 2.7) confirmed this. During the same

period, the quantity of electricity consumed by the

manufacturing sector showed little change.

5.2

The indexes of industrial production for the spinning

and weaving industries for the first half of 1982 indicate

that textiles production was 13% lower than in the first half
