it is difficult to estimate the aggregated number of applications
for naturalization and registration as HKBDTCs by
HKBDTCS by the end of
1996 because the effect of the BN (0) phased programme, the cut-off
Scheme in November 1993 and
date for naturalization for the BN
for the HKBDTC status in March 1996 has yet to be assessed. We
will let you have such information as soon as the situation is more
clear.
The Warning Index

The UK visa warning index is in paper form. It can be
transferred together with the entry clearance functions in October
1996.

The UK passport warning index, the local passport warning
index and the local visa warning index are on computer form. These
indices are operated under the same system as the computer index
for the microfilm. As mentioned in paragraph 8 of the letter, more
time is needed to look into the segregation of the computer indexing
system before suggestions are made to you as to how these indices
are to be segregated and handed over to the HKBCG.
The DSPs
At present, there are 97 volumes of DSPs in paper form.
They can be transferred to the HKBCG with the relevant functions.
