matters concerned with the coordination of the transfer of

work from HKID to the Consulate General (tel no. 829 3837 fax 824 1675). It is obvious that he and his team have been giving considerable thought to the transfer operation and are ahead of us. I said that I would consider the nomination of a liaison officer in London as at the moment he is having to deal with too many different departments.

Recommendation:

I believe that the best way forward would be the establishment of a sub-committee comprising of members

from HKD, MVD, NTCD, Consular Department and MRS to take

forward the coordination of the transfer of work. For a

central liaison point for contact by HKID it would be sensible

if a desk officer could be nominated in HKD. OED will need to be consulted concerning plans for the consulate general to ensure that the weight and environmental factors are taken

into consideration for the storage room for the lectrievers. if required.

Action: HKD, MVD, NTCD, Consular Dept, MRS, OED.
