Floor loading

The general floor leading on typical office floors in 19 GO is 400 kg/m2. For 16/F and 18/F, which were designated as computer floors in the original plan, they have a floor loading of 1,000 kg/m2. A reinforced floor loading of 1,600 kg/m2 is built into the floor slab of 15/F, on which the forms store of Supplies Section is accommodated. The micro- film storage area in Traffic Index Section on 12/F has also been reinforced to accommo- cate 10-drawer microfilm cabinets.

Air-conditioning

In general, air-conditioning (A/C) for general offices is provided from the AHUS housed in the AHU rooms inside the central services core (see para. 6.1.îîî), while the AHUs are in turn supported by chiller plants on refuge floors.

In order to meet the special operational requirements of individual offices, special A/C equipment/features have been incorporated:-

i.

Extended A/C

A/C may be provided to any office outside normal office hours through prior arrancement. However, the basic unit for provision is on haif-floor basis (owing to the design of the air distribution system) and the total floor area requiring extended A/C within the zone G/F-27/F cannot exceed 8,000 m2. Thus users' need in working overtime may be catered for.

A/C with independent control

This is made possible with fan coil units mounted inside the ceiling void. Users provided with fan coil units may have complete control on their own A/C supply and no prior arrangement is required. The followings are the areas provided with fan coil units :-

IMRO - camera consumables store (24/F)

Offices of the Directorate and their secretaries (23/F) Conference room (23/F)

Fitness room and physical exercise training room (21/F) Officers Mess (all areas except dining hall & kitchen) (20/F) Operators room & data control room of COS (19/F)

'ROP Photographic Unit (15/F)

Detention area & barrack rooms (13/F)

Rank & File Common Room (12/F)

MRP production unit (3/F)

UPS rooms (3/F and 17/F)'

Specially conditioned A/C

Specially conditioned A/C is supplied through Computer Room Units (CRUs). CRUs can be fine-tuned to meet the specific environmental requirements (including temperature and humidity) required by computer mainframes and microfilm storage, and thus they cover the following

areas:-

/- Computer hall......
