Dean John,

Transfer of UK-related records

HKD 444/2

(6) 1992

I must first apologise for not having been able to give an

early reply to your letter of 19 March 1992 on the subject (your ref.: JH2ADU) a copy is at Annex I. You were advised of the reasons

for this during your visit to us earlier this year.

2.

You are aware that to prepare for and to effect the transfer of UK-related records, our records will have to be segregated in the first place so that we can set aside those which are UK-related and for which you have, in your previous letter, stated your transfer requirements. In this respect, we do not see much problem for the segregation of records which are kept in paper form because they can be segregated quite easily.

3.

However, we will need considerable resources and time for

the segregation of records which are kept in microfilm form, i.e. in microfilm images stored either in microjackets (for the records in use) or in roll-films (for back-up purpose).
