The main purpose of Lord Prior's call was to enlist
Mr Goodlad's help in promoting the Cheung Ma Railway Project with the Hong Kong Government. This has been reported separately in FCO telno 569 to Hong Kong.
2. The other issue which Lord Prior raised was the plan for the British Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong to take up space in the new Consulate General building. Lord Prior said that James Chiu
(the Chamber's Chairman and Managing Director of GEC Hong Kong) maintained that the Chamber had been promised free

accommodation. Mr Goodlad said it was the first time he had
heard that the Chamber had been promised free accommodation.
