Mr Brüser pointed out that the EC should be more accurately
referred to as the European Communities instead of the European Community pending the establishment of the European Union under the Maastricht Treaty.

Mrs Ip said that following confirmation by the EC that the
head of Office was a high officer, the square bracket in the
sentence could be taken off.

Kuijper said he was satisfied that Hong Kong could grant
inviolability of the residence of the head of the EC Office.
However, he asked whether the provision of immunity of the means of
transport of the EC office from "any form of requisition for purposes of national defence or public utility"
utility" as provided for
under Article 31 of the Vienna Convention on Consular Relations
could be included. Mrs Ip said such requisition was unlikely but if the EC considered it necessary they should suggest some wordings for
consideration.
