Consular Privileges and Immunities

Consular Privileges and Immunities are accorded to Heads of consular post and their staff in Hong Kong in accordance with Consular Relations Ordinance, Cap 259, Laws of Hong Kong (this gives effect in law to the Vienna Convention on Consular Relations).

Exemption from payment of rates and stamp duty in respect of consular premises and residence of the Head of Mission (also consular officers and employees where a bi-lateral consular agreement exists).
Exemption from tax on consular fees and charges.
Exemption from airport departure tax.
Exemption from payment of vessel licence fee.
Exemption from payment of wireless microphone licence fee.
Exemption from payment of driving licence fee: Exemption from payment of vehicle licence fee: Duty-free petrol;
Exemption from payment of cross harbour tunnel tax; Exemption from payment of test fee;
Exemption from payment of left-hand drive permit fee.
Exemption from dues and taxes on the wages received for services.
Exemption from payment of vehicle registration fee: Exemption from payment of vehicle first registration
tax.
Exemption from customs duties and inspection, including :
(a)
Duty-free liquor, tobacco and cosmetics and non-alcoholic beverages directly imported from wholesaler;
