GAMMON LAYS THE FOUNDATIONS FOR BRITISH CONSULATE GENERAL

HONG KONG, 12 October... Gammon Construction Limited has won a $18 million

contract for the site formation and foundations work for the British

Consulate General.

Foundatione for the proposed ten-storey office building and two eight-storey residential and school blocks covering more than 16,000 square metres is to be completed in August 1994.

Gammon is undertaking a wide range of works as part of its contract, including site formation, construction of H-piles and caisson foundations.

The new Consulate General office block, located on Supreme Court Road at Admimity will house the consular Affice as well as the passport,

immigration and commercial departments and a carpark capable of holding 42 vehicles. The residential block features seven apartments with recrcational facilities while the school block will contain classrooms, library, educational councilling, student facilities and administrative offices.

“The British Consulate General building symbolises the end of one cra and the beginning of a fresh new period of close and continuing co-operation betweer Britain and China," said Bill Kocass, Group Managing Director of Gammon Const. on Limited at today's ground breaking ceremony.
