Minutes of last meeting 25 March 1993: Mr Buchanan
clarified point 8. Fire regulations apply to
whatever type of school was registered. The first five floors were registered as a school by the Fire Dept, Mr Stowell commented that this might be raised to six floors. Farrells were trying to get further redundant fire access land from the Hong Kong Park, but this was not holding up construction.
Mr Buchanan asked about the large expanse of wall outside the BC, and if he would be able to have parking spaces
for the BC on the fire access side. He was informed that
regulations did not permit parking on the access route.
Mr Whittle mentioned para 6. from the minutes of the previous meeting. Mr Buchanan told the committee that the British Council had supplied estimates of their present utility costs to the Treasury and Mr Hum. For various reasons the figures were very conservative and as a basis for future rental charges levied against the British Council, could be open to misinterpretation.
In respect of the rental for the British Chamber, Mr Derek Savage had met with Johnson Stokes and Master and
we awaited a report. Mr Whittle would chase.
