YOUR TRIP TO HONG KONG
1. Alex Smith tells me that you will leave this afternoon on your overseas trip which includes a stop in Hong Kong. You may like to be aware that I have just written to James Smith-Laittan asking him to look at engineering an opportunity for members of the Foreign Affairs Committee to see the model of the Consulate General Building when they are in Hong Kong over the weekend of 16 October. They will have a very full timetable so this may well prove impossible to arrange. Nevertheless you might like to take your own soundings when you are out and mention the possibility to Farrells.

Looking ahead, Mr Goodlad will be visiting Hong Kong from 10-12 October. This will give us a further opportunity perhaps to arrange for press coverage of Mr Goodlad (and the Governor?) together with the model. We have not yet put this thought forward formally to Mr Goodlad's office, but since you are going out to Hong Kong would you take the opportunity to ask the BTC (including Chris Osbourne) what they think and let me know how they think this could best be done.
