As you know, it is planned that there should be increasingly close links between AUS commands and their counterparts in the British Council. I discussed this with Mr Davey, my opposite number, when he called on me recently. He readily agreed that a closer and more structured consultation was desirable. We arranged provisionally that we should meet, accompanied by our colleagues, at 15.00 on Tuesday 21 September to initiate this dialogue. I should be grateful if you could note this in your diaries. We shall need to discuss in advance what issues we wish to pursue with Mr Davey.
