was enough)!
2. More importantly, there is a possibility that the AG may be reuired to be on hand for Maastricht business.
If so, would the French be prepared to receive the Solicitor General? (Sir Derek Spencer, described by Mr Wooler as an able criminal practicioner). Paris had already clocked off for the day by the time I got this message. Could you telephone Mr Wooler early on Monday and see whether things are any clearer? they are not, you will need to send a telegram to Paris/Hong Kong warning them of the possible change and asking them to be prepared to square it with the French if necessary.
