Paris Telno 1060 Extradition to Hong Kong from France of Saniman
1.
We would welcome an assessment of the likely way in which the case will now proceed in France. In particular, it would be helpful to know :
(a) whether Saniman will be admitted to bail;
(b) whether Saniman has filed any appeal against the latest extradition decree;
(c) whether the French Authorities would be prepared to surrender Saniman prior to the determination of any appeal;
(d) whether HMG and/or HKG would be permitted to be represented at the hearing of any such appeal.
We raise these questions as we would like, if possible, to have Saniman tried in Hong Kong together with one of his alleged co- conspirators, George Tan. The case against George Tan is scheduled for transfer from the Magistrate to the High Court at the end of November so we would appreciate an early response.
