Debbie Barnes Jones was grateful for your comments on Madrid telno 432. She has asked if you could please put them in a telegramme so that they are given a wider distribution.
2.
As far as we can see there is nothing in the Schengen Treaty to prevent countries from making bilateral visa abolition agreements. But Spain has already indicated (reference Madrid telno 408) that they are opposed to this idea.
3. On receipt of your telegramme and after obtaining comments from Brussels we shall consider how we can best take this matter further.
