VISA REQUIREMENTS FOR BRITISH NATIONAL (OVERSEAS) PASSPORT HOLDERS VISITING AUSTRIA
1.
As you know this department has a keen interest in the question of visa-free travel for Hong Kong BN (0)s to Austria. I wonder if there have been any further developments since FCO telno 150 to Vienna (which said that you were awaiting Home Office advice on the returnability point)?
2. Obtaining visa-free access for BN (0)s to foreign countries is of importance to Hong Kong not least to it demonstrate that BN (0) status is not second class. But has become particularly sensitive, as you will be aware, since
the Spanish reimposition of a visa regime on 1 October. I am wondering whether it might be possible to push the Home office for a response it would be helpful for HKD to be able to demonstrate to the Hong Kong government that we doing all we can to resolve this issue.
