When did you know that Spain intends to impose a visa regime on BN (O)s and HKBDTCs? Why did the public hear about this
only recently?
We heard in July, as the Spanish were starting to arrange advance publicity. Not being part of the group of Schengen countries Britain had no details before then of any action
which might affect Hong Kong.
Will Hong Kong consider imposing visa requirement on these countries if we were not successful in our lobbying efforts?
No, Hong Kong is an international and open city. Imposing retaliatory measures would be against the interests of Hong Kong, not least because they will adversely affect trade and tourism in Hong Kong.
Is it true that the CVL arrangement will benefit HKCI
holders?

It appears so because, instead of being required to get 9
visas to these Schengen countries, they would only have to
get one.
Are there any countries according visa-free visits to HKCI holders at present?
According to our knowledge, South Korea, South Africa and
Singapore do not require HKCI holders to have visas for
visits.
