The Gambia Nationality and Citizenship (Amendment) Act, 1991.
2. Part 11 of The Gambia Nationality and Citizenship Act (Cap.16.01) in this Act referred to as the Principal Act) is amended by inserting immediately after section 8 thereof the following new section.-
"Registration
8A (1) The Minister may, if application therefore is made to him in the prescribed manner by any special immigrant of full age and capacity, who satisfies him that he is of good character, register such special in mi- grant as a citizen of The Gambia.
(2) For the purpose of this section “special immigrant" means any person, who is not a citizen of The Gambia, who is designated a special immigrant by the President by oider publishedin the Gazette.
(3) Where any special immigrant is regis- tered under this section as a citizen of The Gambia the Minister may cause the spouse or miner child of such special immigrant to be regstered as a citizen of The Gambia if application therefore is made by such special immigrant.
(4) Any special immigrant, his spouse or minor child-registered under this section as a ctizen of The Gambia shall be a citizen of The Gambia by registration as from the date o which he is registered.
(5) The provision of section 7 shail not apply to any person who applies to be regis- tered as a citizen of The Gambia under this section or to the spouse or minor child of such person.
